Volunteering with Pro Bono SG

If you want to use your skills to make a difference, we invite you to volunteer with Pro Bono SG. Your expertise can be used to improve the lives of those in need through one of three options:

Ad Hoc Pro Bono Scheme

Dependent on case

Provide legal representation for persons with exceptional circumstances who do not meet criteria for existing legal aid schemes, regardless of nationality.

 

 

 

Criminal Legal Aid Scheme

Dependent on case

Provide criminal defence representation for needy accused persons facing non-capital charges, regardless of nationality.

 

 

 

Family Justice Support Scheme

Dependent on case

Provide legal representation for needy foreign spouses with Singapore children or persons facing family law issues and who marginally fail Legal Aid Bureau’s means test

 

 

 

 

Ad hoc basis

Act as an interpreter for applicants who are unable to speak or understand English

Project Law Help

Ad hoc basis

Non-litigation commercial legal guidance to non-profit organisations in Singapore

 

 

 

Legal Clinics

Monday to Friday evenings or Sunday morning

Provide legal guidance to needy applicants

Act as an interpreter for applicants who are unable to speak or understand English

Board Member of Charities

As needed basis, PBSG will refer interested volunteers to NVPC

Sit on the board of charities (this is done through Centre for Non-Profit Leadership BoardMatch programme)

Knowledge/Content Development

Ad hoc basis

Help with drafting accessible and bite size up to date legal content.

Copywriting and editing, graphic designer, video editing, videography, photography, digital marketing, content creation for social media and other publicity material.

Law Awareness

Ad hoc basis

Research support for current legal awareness topics.

Speaker/moderator for webinars/talks

Migrant Worker Initiatives

Ad hoc basis – mostly on Sundays

Provide assistance in areas such as outreach events, translation, interpretation, legal clinic administration etc.

Pro Bono Research Initiatives

Ad hoc basis

Provide research support to pro bono practitioners undertaking complex and important criminal and civil litigation.

Project Schools

Ad hoc basis

Deliver fixed law awareness modules to youths between 14 -17 years old. Teaching materials will be provided (includes activity sheets and presentation slides)

Administrative Support

Ad hoc basis or term basis

Event support, fundraising, data mining, etc.

Internships

Preference for current law undergraduates/ students waiting to enter law school. However students awaiting A Level/ IB results are also welcome to apply.

Requirements:

Applicants must be aged 18 and above

Currently enrolled to study and/ or are studying a law degree*.

If you are interested to intern with us, please complete the Student Volunteer Application Form, attaching:

  • A photograph
  • CV/Resume
  • Educational qualifications and transcripts

We will contact you if you are shortlisted for an attachment.

*If you are a student at NUS, SMU or SUSS please kindly note that we have an existing partnership with your schools on internship opportunities. Please kindly contact your school administrator on this.
